Southern Filmmakers Take on Artificial Intelligence in New Feature Film Showdown in Secret City
Filmed locally. Releasing worldwide June 30 on Amazon and Tubi.

[Pigeon Forge, TN] — A team of independent Southern filmmakers is bringing a bold, timely story to screens around the world with their upcoming feature film, Showdown in Secret City, set for release on June 30 on Amazon and Tubi.

Produced by Big N Funky Productions, Showdown in Secret City explores the growing tension between human creativity and artificial intelligence. Blending satire, sci-fi, and action, the film asks a question at the center of today’s cultural conversation: What happens when machines begin to replace human artistry?

What makes the project especially unique is its deep local connection. Portions of the film were shot right here in Lafollette, showcasing familiar locations and involving members of the community both on and off screen. The production reflects the grit and determination of Southern independent filmmakers—working with limited resources but delivering a story with global relevance. The film is based in Oak Ridge and features the Oak Ridge Super Computer as it's A.I. villain.

“This is a film about the soul of art,” said co-director Luke Walker in a recent interview. “We wanted to create something funny and entertaining, but also something that speaks directly to what creators everywhere are facing right now with AI.”

As part of the Smoky Mountain Chronicles series, Showdown in Secret City continues the group’s tradition of blending regional storytelling with high-concept ideas. With a worldwide digital release, the film aims to bring a distinctly Southern voice into an international conversation.

Showdown in Secret City will be available to stream globally beginning June 30 on Amazon and Tubi.
